LEE COUNTY CLERK - ELECTION DEPARTMENT


ABSENTEE VOTER'S BALLOT

Absentee Voting is conducted in the Election department of the County Clerk's Office. It can be done by mail or in-person.

Persons who apply for an absentee ballot by mail, please send a request to Lee County Clerk, P.O. Box 329, Dixon, IL. 61021. The last day a request for an absentee ballot can be accepted by the Election department is 5 days prior to the election date. This is according to State Statues.

A voter may vote an in-person absentee ballot from approximately 28 days before the election until the day prior to the election.

To vote by absentee ballot in Illinois a person must be a registered voter and unable to vote in person at the polls on Election day for one of the following reasons:

bullet Expect to be absent from the county on election day.
bullet Physically incapable of going to the polling place.
bullet Observing a religious holiday
bullet Certain election duties such as serving as a judge outside of home precinct. Serving as a sequestered juror.
